S. Africa's solar, storage expo concludes with strong partnerships, business engagement

JOHANNESBURG, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The three-day Solar and Storage Live Africa 2026 concluded on Friday with strong business engagement, partnership-building and deal-making, the organizer said.

"We are proud to be at the forefront of promoting the energy transition, and this year's event has been nothing short of outstanding," Manas Sahu, the event's marketing manager, told Xinhua.

Noting that about 650 companies exhibited and more than 200 speakers addressed the conference, he said that the show floor "has been filled with cutting-edge innovations, and the level of engagement across the event has been truly remarkable."

The exhibitors mainly came from China and South Africa, alongside participants from countries including Ghana, Kenya, Botswana, among others, Sahu said, reflecting Africa's growing role as a hub for renewable energy investment and innovation.

"We are especially encouraged to see local companies partnering with international organizations. These collaborations are essential to driving sustainable growth and ensuring a successful transition to cleaner energy across Africa," Sahu added.

Kyle Curtis, account manager of JA Solar, a Cape Town-based photovoltaic manufacturer, said the event provided valuable opportunities to engage with potential customers from South Africa as well as neighboring countries, including Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, with follow-up discussions expected after the exhibition.

Joseph Nkrumah, project manager at Bui Power Authority from Ghana, said his institution is keen to deepen cooperation with Chinese partners after earlier collaboration with Huawei in Ghana's renewable energy sector.

"We want to work with Chinese companies in some skill transfer and others from the African continent," he added.
