Georgia hosts Interpol int'l anti-crime conference


TBILISI, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Georgia is hosting the annual conference of the Interpol General Secretariat Project Millennium on Wednesday and Thursday, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said Wednesday.

Organized by the Interpol General Secretariat with the support of the MIA, the event will address current challenges in combating transnational organized crime and explore ways to strengthen international collaboration, the ministry said.

First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Roni Meskhi opened the event before about 60 delegates from 25 Interpol members, reaffirming Georgia's commitment to international cooperation against transnational crime and underscoring Georgia's longstanding partnership with Interpol.

Representatives of the Interpol General Secretariat and members are participating in the conference.

Project Millennium is an Interpol initiative aimed at dismantling transnational criminal networks and enhancing cooperation among members.
