China-Hungary cultural exchange concert held in Budapest

BUDAPEST, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A China-Hungary cultural exchange concert was held on Wednesday evening at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, featuring a joint symphony orchestra of young musicians from the two countries.

Titled "TUTTI -- China-Hungary Cultural Exchange Concert," the event was jointly organized by the China Conservatory of Music and the Liszt Academy of Music. It marked the opening of a joint youth orchestra talent development program launched by the two institutions. The Budapest performance followed the concert's debut in the southern Hungarian city of Pecs on Tuesday.

The first half of the concert featured Franz Liszt's Prelude No. 3 and Piano Concerto No. 2, while the second half presented Chinese works, including Xu Zhenmin's tone poem Night Mooring by the Maple Bridge and the symphonic poem Mu Guiying Takes Command by Deng Zong'an and others.

Addressing the audience, Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Gong Tao said the two academies and musicians from both countries have engaged in in-depth exchanges at multiple levels and in various forms.

"China will continue to pursue high-standard opening up, share opportunities and promote common development with Hungary and other countries, and advance harmonious coexistence among different civilizations through exchanges and mutual learning," he said.

Boglarka Illes, state secretary for bilateral relations at Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said music serves as a universal language that connects people across cultures and generations. Cooperation between Hungarian and Chinese young musicians demonstrates how cultural traditions can be linked across time and space, she added.

Cooperation between the two academies continues to expand, with further joint performances planned in Beijing later this year, said Gabor Farkas, president of the Liszt Academy of Music.
