U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, March 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.48 percent to 99.431 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1569 dollars from 1.1607 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3366 dollars from 1.3425 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 159.14 Japanese yen, higher than 158.45 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.7918 Swiss francs from 0.7865 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3783 Canadian dollars from 1.3719 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.3669 Swedish kronor from 9.3095 Swedish kronor.
