U.S. stocks close lower


NEW YORK, March 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.26 percent to 46,558.47. The S&P 500 sank 0.61 percent to 6,632.19. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 0.93 percent to 22,105.36.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with technology and materials leading the laggards by falling 1.29 percent and 1.04 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and consumer staples led the gainers by rising 0.94 percent and 0.54 percent, respectively.
