Israeli airstrikes target Iranian military infrastructure amid rising tensions

ISTANBUL: The Israeli army announced on Sunday (March 8)  that it conducted airstrikes across Iran, targeting what it termed "Iranian military infrastructure."

The military reported that strikes hit F-14 fighter jets at Isfahan International Airport, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.

As of 0700 GMT, there was no official response from Iranian authorities regarding the attacks. Tensions in the region have escalated since a large-scale US and Israeli operation began on February 28, resulting in over 1,000 deaths, including those of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and numerous military officials.

Meanwhile, three people were injured in northern Bahrain when fragments of an Iranian missile struck near a university building in Muharraq. The Interior Ministry activated sirens to alert residents to seek shelter. The ministry accused Iran of randomly targeting civilian sites, noting that a drone attack had also caused damage to a desalination plant.
