BAGHDAD, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Five members of the same family were killed and three others injured on Friday in a traffic accident in Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk, according to police and medical sources.

Adnan al-Obaidi from the Kirkuk traffic directorate told Xinhua that the crash involved a collision between two vehicles, attributing the incident to "high speed and inattention of the drivers."

Ihsan al-Jubouri from the Kirkuk health directorate said that the three survivors are receiving treatment, with two in critical condition.

Traffic accidents are common in Iraq due to poor road conditions and widespread disregard for safety regulations.
