U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.09 percent to 97.789 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1786 dollars from 1.1805 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3470 dollars from 1.3551 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.34 Japanese yen, lower than 156.44 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.7747 Swiss francs from 0.7729 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3687 Canadian dollars from 1.3678 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.0631 Swedish kronor from 9.0219 Swedish kronor.
