U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 307.65 points, or 0.63 percent, to 49,482.15. The S&P 500 added 56.06 points, or 0.81 percent, to 6,946.13. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 288.396 points, or 1.26 percent, to 23,152.077.

Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with industrials and real estate leading the laggards by going down 0.79 percent and 0.69 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, technology and financials led the gainers by rising 1.79 percent and 1.68 percent, respectively.
