Brazil's GDP grows 2.5 pct in 2025

BRASILIA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 2.5 percent in 2025 from a year earlier, according to data released Thursday by the country's central bank.

The growth was mainly driven by the agricultural sector with an increase of 13.1 percent, while services grew by 2.1 percent and industry by 1.5 percent.

The latest economic data has bolstered market expectations of a potential interest rate cut in March by the monetary policy committee of the central bank.
