MEXICO CITY, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and several others, mostly children, were injured in a shooting in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato on Tuesday night, the municipal government of San Francisco del Rincon said Wednesday.

In a statement, the municipal government said the attack took place at a local park and resulted in the death of a 36-year-old person.

Those injured have received medical treatment. Among the injured children, three have been discharged from hospital, while five others remain in stable condition, according to the statement.

Guanajuato Governor Libia Garcia condemned the incident on X and said she instructed the state security and health departments to provide immediate medical care and comprehensive support to the affected families.

She added that her team is working closely with the state attorney general's office to clarify the circumstances of the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
