3 dead after truck crashes into cargo van in SW Romania


BUCHAREST, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Three people, including two children, were killed and one man was injured on Sunday afternoon after a head-on collision between a truck and a cargo van in Caras-Severin County in southwestern Romania, authorities said.

The crash occurred on an exit road, according to the Caras-Severin County Police Inspectorate, as cited by the official Agerpres.

Police said the truck crossed into oncoming traffic, killing the van's 58-year-old driver and two passengers aged 16 and 13. The truck's 50-year-old driver was slightly injured.

The Caras-Severin County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said multiple emergency crews responded, and rescuers retrieved the bodies of three deceased victims from the van.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
