U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1,206.95 points, or 2.47 percent, to 50,115.67. The S&P 500 added 133.90 points, or 1.97 percent, to 6,932.3. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 490.627 points, or 2.18 percent, to 23,031.213.

Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and industrials leading the gainers by going up 4.10 percent and 2.84 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, communication services and consumer discretionary led the laggards by dropping 1.51 percent and 0.66 percent, respectively.
