1st Shaanxi Provincial Winter Games opens in Yulin

YULIN, China, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The first Shaanxi Provincial Winter Games opened in Yulin city on Friday, with the ground-breaking campaign featuring the Winter Olympics style program.

Tipped as Shaanxi Province's "mini-Winter Olympics", the games features 136 golds of seven disciplines in the youth group. The organizers also set three disciplines for mass sports enthusiasts, including skiing, speed skating and curling.

Over 1,341 athletes are competing in the year's Games, which will run through to February 11.

Except cross-county skiing, ice hockey of the youth group, as well as alpine skiing, all the competitions have already concluded before the official opening ceremony.

Zhu Zilong, Chinese national champion at 4-men bobsled, lit the cauldron as the last torch bearer.
