Uganda to compete in ISF Football World Cup in China

KAMPALA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Uganda will compete in the 2026 International School Sport Federation (ISF) Football World Cup to be held in the eastern Chinese city of Suzhou.

Justus Mugisha, president of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association, told Xinhua on Thursday that the country is confident of a strong showing in the global schools tournament.

"We have very strong teams in football and we expect to put up a good show. This year we expect to field even better teams that should be going all out for gold," he added.

The 2026 ISF Football World Cup will be held from October 17 to 26.

Mugisha also revealed that Uganda will participate in another major international schools competition, the ISF Under-15 World School Volleyball Championship, in China's Shangluo.

"We are looking forward to sending the teams to China because they will be able to compete against other top teams from around the world," said Mugisha.
