Russia's gold deposits reserves grow 614 tonnes in 2025

MOSCOW, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Russia's reserves of gold deposits increased by 614 tonnes in 2025 following geological exploration carried out across the country, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said Thursday.

A total of 317 deposits of solid minerals and hydrocarbons were added to the state balance sheet last year, with discoveries made from central Russia to Siberia, the Far East and the Arctic. Of these, 276 were solid mineral deposits, the ministry said.

Among the major finds were deposits of strategic raw materials, it said, adding that 41 hydrocarbon deposits were identified in 2025, including 31 oil fields.

"The positive dynamics in reserve growth in 2025 were maintained for most types of raw materials," said Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov.

He noted that reserves of copper increased by 3 million tonnes, coal by 938.1 million tonnes, iron ore by 984.2 million tonnes, and titanium by 17.3 million tonnes, while oil and condensate reserves rose by 640 million tonnes and gas reserves by 670 billion cubic meters.
