NEW YORK, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.58 percent to 49,098.71. The S&P 500 added 0.03 percent to 6,915.61. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.28 percent to 23,501.24.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with materials and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by rising 0.86 percent and 0.73 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, financials and industrials led the laggards by falling 1.38 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively.
