Poland's average enterprise wages up 8.6 pct in December as inflation eases

WARSAW, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Average monthly gross wages and salaries in Poland's enterprise sector rose by 8.6 percent year-on-year in December 2025 to 9,583 Polish zlotys (about 2,660 U.S. dollars), the country's Central Statistical Office (GUS) said Thursday.

Compared with November 2025, this month's average gross wage in the sector rose by 5.6 percent.

GUS said the increase in wages was mainly due to a larger scale of additional payments, awards, and bonuses.

Although wage growth in Poland has been slowing in recent months, inflation has decelerated more sharply, which has improved purchasing power. In December 2025, inflation stood at 2.4 percent.

The data released Thursday covered 6,410.3 thousand people employed in the enterprise sector.

In December 2025, the average paid employment in the sector fell by 0.1 percent compared with November 2025, and by 0.7 percent compared with a year earlier. (1 Polish zloty = 0.28 U.S. dollar)
