Direct flights resume between Israel, Belarus after nearly 4-yr hiatus

JERUSALEM, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Direct flights between Israel and Belarus resumed on Thursday after nearly four years, with a flight departing Minsk International Airport and landing at Ben Gurion International Airport outside Tel Aviv.

This is the renewed route of the Belarusian flag carrier Belavia, which announced that it will operate two direct flights per week between the two countries.

The airline, currently the only operator on the route, had stopped flights to Israel in February 2022.

Belavia had planned to resume flights in June 2022 but canceled its return, citing Israel's refusal to service its planes at Ben Gurion Airport.
