CAIRO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held a phone conversation on Monday, discussing ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and recent regional developments.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement, the ministers underscored the historic bilateral relations and the growing momentum at all levels, reflecting the joint political will to advance the strategic partnership in a way that serves Arab interests and regional stability.
The two top diplomats exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of deploying a temporary international stabilization force (ISF) to monitor the ceasefire and protect civilians.
They also called for enabling Palestinian forces to assume law enforcement responsibilities, ensuring unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and creating conditions for early recovery and reconstruction. The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on Nov. 17 endorsing the establishment of the ISF in Gaza.
Addressing the situation in Sudan, they highlighted the importance of continued coordination to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.
Abdelatty stressed the need to provide safe havens and secure humanitarian corridors for aid delivery and reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty, stability, and national institutions.
The statement added that the two ministers will continue close coordination to bolster regional stability and promote joint Arab action in facing ongoing challenges.
