U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.05 percent to 98.397 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the British pound dropped to 1.3366 dollars from 1.3389 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.90 Japanese yen, higher than 155.61 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.7959 Swiss francs from 0.7951 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3766 Canadian dollars from 1.3779 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.2732 Swedish kronor from 9.2542 Swedish kronor.
