MOSCOW, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The number of electric and hybrid cars in Russia is expected to increase by nearly 50 percent year on year by early 2026, Russian analytics firm Autostat said Monday.
The fleet of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in the country is forecast to reach 175,000 units by 2026, compared with 117,500 units at the beginning of 2025, said Autostat Director Sergey Tselikov.
The expansion is mainly driven by PHEVs, with the number growing at around 73 percent year on year, while the number of BEVs is increasing at a rate of around 26 percent, he said.
At the end of the third quarter of 2025, Russia had more than 6,400 public charging stations, with one station serving about 12 BEVs and 15 PHEVs on average, Tselikov said.
