1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Monday


BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.18 percent to 3,996.94 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.51 percent higher at 13,489.4 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.34 trillion yuan (about 330.13 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.97 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to storage chips and controlled nuclear fusion led the gains, while those related to gaming and wind power equipment suffered major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.98 percent to close at 3,234.45 points on Monday.
