Vodafone suffers internet outage across Britain

LONDON, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Britain's major mobile service provider, Vodafone, suffered a major internet outage on Monday afternoon, according to web outage monitor Downdetector.

By 3:18 p.m. local time, more than 130,000 users had reported service disruptions. Data from Downdetector indicated that about 62 percent of the complaints were related to fixed-line broadband issues.

According to Vodafone's official webpage, the company provides mobile and fixed services to more than 330 million customers across 15 countries and operates partner networks in 45 others.

As of 4:40 p.m. local time, the company's UK website remained inaccessible. Vodafone reportedly said in a statement that it was aware of a "major issue on our network affecting broadband, 4G and 5G services."

The cause of the disruption has not yet been identified.
