Cambodia makes 390 mln USD from rubber latex exports in first 9 months of 2025

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned 390 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first nine months of 2025, down 1 percent year-on-year, said an official report on Tuesday.

The report, compiled by the General Directorate of Rubber, showed that the kingdom exported 220,240 tons of the commodity during the January-September period this year, down 11.4 percent from 248,535 tons over the same period last year.

However, the domestic consumption of rubber latex experienced a sharp rise of 102 percent to 86,539 tons in the first nine months of this year, generating a gross revenue from local sales of 156.5 million dollars, the report said.

"A ton of rubber latex averagely cost 1,771 dollars during the first nine months of 2025, about 185 dollars higher than that of the same period in 2024," Khun Kakada, deputy director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.

The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China.

Cambodia has so far planted rubber trees on a total area of 425,443 hectares, of which the trees on 330,259 hectares, or 77.6 percent, are old enough to be tapped, the report said.
