U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.25 percent to 97.905 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1731 dollars from 1.1704 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3438 dollars from 1.3410 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 148.64 Japanese yen, lower than 149.44 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar slipped to 0.7972 Swiss francs from 0.7975 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3914 Canadian dollars from 1.3937 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.4146 Swedish kronor from 9.4041 Swedish kronor.
