Bangladesh's inflation eases slightly in August

DHAKA, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's inflation decreased to 8.29 percent in August from 8.55 percent in July, according to official statistics on Sunday.

Food inflation increased slightly to 7.60 percent in August. In July, food inflation was 7.56 percent.

Inflation for non-food items decreased to 8.90 percent in August from 9.38 percent in July.

The country's average inflation surged to 10.3 percent in the fiscal year 2024-25 (July 2024-June 2025), much higher than the budgetary target of 6 percent for the fiscal year.

In the previous fiscal year, overall inflation was 9.73 percent.
