Roundup: Czech tour operators see expanding opportunities in China

PRAGUE, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Czech tour operators have voiced growing interest in boosting cooperation with China at a tourism promotion event held in Prague.

"China represents a growing business opportunity," Lucie Freiberg, one of the tour operators, said.

The Thursday's "Nihao! China" tourism promotion event showcased tourism resources from Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong, Zhejiang and Hainan, along with convenient payment policies for travelers to China.

"The event was very important, because I got a lot of information that I would not find out myself," said Freiberg from the Prague Concert Co., an agency specializing in concert, art and study tours. The agency has brought Chinese orchestras and choirs to Prague in recent years.

"As we plan to expand our business with Chinese groups, we are interested in exploring the market and visiting China," she said, adding that she hopes to go to China for business opportunities as well as personal travel.

The event, jointly hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, Hainan Airlines, and Prague Airport, also marked the first anniversary of the resumption of the Prague-Beijing direct flights.

Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Feng Biao outlined policies facilitating travel to China and expressed the hope that strengthened tourism cooperation between China and the Czech Republic will enhance people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding.

Lenka Fidranska, development manager of the Czech Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents, one of the event co-organizers, told Xinhua that she has seen growing interest among Czech tour operators in booking holidays to China since the first "Nihao! China" tourism promotion event held in November 2024.

"I can see that tour operators who did not offer China travel last November are now including it in their packages. That is a big change," she said, adding that she hopes this year's event will further enhance understanding of China and its tourism products.
