U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.04 percent to 97.771 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1699 dollars from 1.1689 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3510 dollars from 1.3516 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.02 Japanese yen, higher than 146.82 Japanese yen in the previous session. The U.S. dollar slipped to 0.8001 Swiss francs from 0.8012 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3728 Canadian dollars from 1.3747 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.4643 Swedish kronor from 9.4679 Swedish kronor.
