U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 71.67 points, or 0.16 percent, to 45,636.9. The S&P 500 added 20.46 points, or 0.32 percent, to 6,501.86. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 115.02 points, or 0.53 percent, to 21,705.16.
