Egypt, Qatar discuss implementation of 7.5-bln-USD investment package

CAIRO, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met in Egypt's New Alamein city on Thursday to discuss the implementation of a 7.5-billion-U.S. dollars Qatari investment package.

Madbouly reaffirmed his government's commitment to maintaining communication with the Qatari business community and providing full support for Qatari investments in Egypt, according to a government statement.

The Qatari prime minister affirmed his country's leadership's commitment to expanding bilateral relations and advancing joint investment projects in a way that meets the aspirations of both peoples.

In an interview with Egypt's Extra News channel on Thursday, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said the investment package will target projects in health, education, real estate, food security, and renewable energy.

In April, Qatar and Egypt agreed on the 7.5-billion-dollar package of direct Qatari investments during a meeting in Doha between Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
