U.S. stocks close lower

NEW YORK, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 349.27 points, or 0.77 percent, to 45,282.47. The S&P 500 sank 27.59 points, or 0.43 percent, to 6,439.32. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 47.243 points, or 0.22 percent, to 21,449.29.
