KABUL, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- A new modern library has been inaugurated in eastern Afghanistan's Paktia province, providing students with greater access to educational resources and learning opportunities in the east region of the country, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Monday.
Built for 14.8 million afghani (about 211,400 U.S. dollars), the facility houses a collection of more than 4,000 books covering diverse subjects. According to the report, the project was designed to promote literacy, support academic research, and foster a culture of reading within the community.
Authorities said the project was part of broader efforts to expand access to modern educational facilities across Afghanistan, contributing to long-term social and economic development.
