MOSCOW, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Russia's GDP grew 1.2 percent in the first half of 2025, according to media reports on Wednesday.

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development estimates that the economy grew 1.2 percent year on year in the first half of 2025, TASS news agency reported.

Russia's GDP grew 1.1 percent in the second quarter of 2025, following a 1.4 percent expansion in the first quarter, according to a preliminary estimate by the Federal State Statistics Service.

"The main factor behind the slowdown was weaker domestic demand, which was reflected in a notable easing of inflation -- from a peak of 10.3 percent year on year in March to 8.55 percent as of August 11," the ministry was quoted by TASS as saying.
