Forest fire advances toward residential areas in NW Türkiye

ISTANBUL, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- A forest fire in the central district of Türkiye's northwestern Canakkale province on Wednesday intensified under strong winds, with flames advancing toward nearby residential areas, local media reported.

According to Turkish broadcaster NTV, 11 firefighting aircraft and 250 personnel have been deployed to contain the blaze.
