U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.17 percent to 97.377 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1766 dollars from 1.1771 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3516 dollars from 1.3579 dollars in the previous session.

The dollar bought 146.92 Japanese yen, up from 146.47 Japanese yen in the previous session. The dollar was up to 0.7944 Swiss francs from 0.7927 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3640 Canadian dollars from 1.3600 Canadian dollars. The dollar added to 9.5201 Swedish kronor from 9.5037 Swedish kronor.
