NEW YORK, July 23 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 507.85 points, or 1.14 percent, to 45,010.29. The S&P 500 added 49.29 points, or 0.78 percent, to 6,358.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 127.33 points, or 0.61 percent, to 21,020.02.
Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with health and industrials leading the gainers by rising 2.03 percent and 1.75 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and consumer staples led the laggards by falling 0.79 percent and 0.07 percent, respectively.
