U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.21 percent to 97.853 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1689 dollars from 1.1692 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3509 dollars from 1.3574 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.45 Japanese yen, higher than 146.24 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.7972 Swiss francs from 0.7971 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3675 Canadian dollars from 1.3672 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.5577 Swedish kronor from 9.5155 Swedish kronor.
