U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, June 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 404.41 points, or 0.94 percent, to 43,386.84. The S&P 500 added 48.86 points, or 0.80 percent, to 6,141.02. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 194.36 points, or 0.97 percent, to 20,167.91.

Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with communication services and energy leading the gainers by rising 1.77 percent and 1.50 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, real estate and consumer staples led the laggards by going down 0.64 percent and 0.18 percent, respectively.
