U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.27 percent to 98.184 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1541 U.S. dollars from 1.1578 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3563 dollars from 1.3596 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.96 Japanese yen, higher than 143.52 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was unchanged at 0.8115 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3594 Canadian dollars from 1.3603 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.4994 Swedish Kronor from 9.4464 Swedish Kronor.
