U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.45 percent to 99.190 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1397 U.S. dollars from 1.1442 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.3530 dollars from 1.3580 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 144.85 Japanese yen, higher than 143.63 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8222 Swiss francs from 0.8204 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3696 Canadian dollars from 1.3661 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.6428 Swedish Kronor from 9.5687 Swedish Kronor.
