U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, June 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.53 percent to 99.228 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1375 U.S. dollars from 1.1441 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3525 dollars from 1.3540 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.91 Japanese yen, higher than 142.82 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8238 Swiss francs from 0.8170 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3716 Canadian dollars from 1.3712 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.6231 Swedish Kronor from 9.5267 Swedish Kronor.
