OTTAWA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Canada's exports of crude oil to the United States by pipelines were down 9.5 percent in March, Statistics Canada said on Monday.
According to the national statistical agency, exports of crude oil were down 1.1 percent year over year to 20.2 million cubic meters in March due to lower volumes shipped to the United States.
In contrast, exports to countries other than the United States rose sixfold to 1.9 million cubic meters, a new series high, said the agency, adding that the increase was driven by exports shipped through the Trans Mountain pipeline to the west coast and destined for the Asian market.
Offshore crude oil exports from Newfoundland and Labrador increased by 155.1 percent to 0.8 million cubic meters, also contributing to the overall year-over-year rise, said the agency.
Crude oil production reached 26.8 million cubic meters in March, up 5.1 percent from the same month one year earlier. This was the second-highest volume in the series, following record production in December 2024, said Statistics Canada.
