U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.31 percent to 100.119 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1273 U.S. dollars from 1.1235 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3379 dollars from 1.3356 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 144.55 Japanese yen, lower than 144.97 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8298 Swiss francs from 0.8348 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3930 Canadian dollars from 1.3959 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 9.6540 Swedish Kronor from 9.6928 Swedish Kronor.
