U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.77 percent to 101.002 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.1185 U.S. dollars from 1.1089 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3300 dollars from 1.3180 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.50 Japanese yen, lower than 148.34 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8406 Swiss francs from 0.8457 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3940 Canadian dollars from 1.3994 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 9.7283 Swedish Kronor from 9.8166 Swedish Kronor.
