BAMAKO, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Malian political parties and politically affiliated organizations have been dissolved, according to a presidential decree read Tuesday on Mali's national television by Mamani Nassire, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Political Reforms and Support for the Electoral Process.

This measure came one day after the National Transitional Council (CNT) voted to repeal the charter of political parties and the status of political opposition.

Mali officially had 297 political parties.
