MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard expects the review of the trilateral USMCA trade pact between the U.S., Canada and Mexico to kick off in the second half of this year, he said during in event on Monday.

The review is scheduled for 2026, but Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has already hinted that it could come early, which analysts have said U.S. President Donald Trump could be vying for.

When asked about the timeline for the review of the trade agreement, Ebrard said, "more or less, the time that I'm estimating is the second half of the year."

The minister added that the early timeline "could be convenient for us."
