U.S. stocks close mixed


NEW YORK, May 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended mixed on Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 119.07 points, or 0.29 percent, to 41,249.38. The S&P 500 sank 4.03 points, or 0.07 percent, to 5,659.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 0.78 points, or 0.00 percent, to 17,928.92.

Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and real estate leading the gainers by rising 1.05 percent and 0.65 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, health and communication services led the laggards by going down 1.10 percent and 0.62 percent, respectively.
