U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.1 percent to 99.470 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1380 U.S. dollars from 1.1378 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3329 U.S. dollars from 1.3326 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 143.57 Japanese yen, higher than 142.73 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8271 Swiss francs from 0.8281 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3860 Canadian dollars from 1.3861 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 9.6685 Swedish kronor from 9.5963 Swedish kronor.
