BRASILIA (Reuters) - Nadine Heredia, the wife of former Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, arrived in Brazil's capital Brasilia on Wednesday after requesting diplomatic asylum, the Brazilian foreign ministry said.

Heredia will travel to Sao Paulo later in the day, according to her lawyer. On Tuesday, a Peruvian court had sentenced Humala and Heredia to 15 years in prison each for receiving funds from Brazilian builder Odebrecht, now known as Novonor.
